Set Up a Lemonade Stand

This is a classic favorite; summers are hot and with this climate change thing going on they are only getting hotter. While adults have nice cool cars to ride down the block in (usually) kids don’t, and they get thirsty. Rather than have them raid your fridge all at once and clean you out of the only juice you bought for the week, help your kids earn some extra money by setting them up with a lemonade stand.

Create some good looking signs and post them around the house and down the street a little bit each way. Set them up with a pitcher of lemonade or a lemonade machine, some Dixie cups and a card table and set them to work. They can make a little chunk of change charging a quarter a cup—but don’t let them drink up all their profits!

Yard Work Pays Well in Summer Months

If you are much like anybody else, chances are that you hate doing yard work when the temperature goes up outside. That is perfectly understandable, especially since there are plenty of kids out there that are looking for ways to earn extra money. While lemonade stands are usually good work for younger ids, older kids do well with yard work. Raking, weeding, mowing, trimming—you name it. Prices can fluctuate based on the heat and the size of the job that needs to be done—and tips are always encouraged.

Helping kids earn extra money doesn’t have to be hard. There are so many ways that kids can go about earning some extra cash—these are just a couple of the most timeless. Get creative and find out what types of things they like to do, and see how you might be able to turn that into a lucrative summer business for them.
