How To Tell When You Are In Financial Trouble

You may think it is pretty obvious when someone is in financial trouble, but too many times those who are in trouble head-in-the-sandcan not easily recognize the symptoms. People will often live long in denial that there is a problem and only when it is too late, will they begin to see that indeed a problem exists. Finances can be a very touchy subject for many people, one that many who are in trouble will not always be willing to confront or talk about. As a family with financial problems, it is important to keep communication lines open for all members and make a commitment together to improve finances. If you or someone you know is having trouble with money issues, it is never too early or too late to do something about your debts.

There are some pretty tell-tale signs that you are either headed towards financial crisis or are already knee deep in money troubles. Here are just a few. See if any of these signs are occurring in your own life.

  • You pay only the bare minimum amounts on all of your credit cards, loans, and other bills.


  • You are missing entire payments on your accounts in order to pay money towards other debts.


  • You are not able to consistently make on time payments.


  • You have started using your credit cards as income to pay the mortgage, buy gas and groceries, and the like.


  • Your credit cards have all reach their maximum limits.


  • You have begun getting phone calls or letters from creditors or collection agencies about your debts.


  • You have no savings or a plan for putting money away.


  • You have no real concept of how much money you owe your creditors or a solid plan to pay to back.

If any two of the above points are familiar to you, you need to really start taking stock of your finances before you completely lose control. These warning signs already indicate that time is of the essence and it is your responsibility to grab hold of the reins and proactive about your money and your bills. Getting out of debt is not impossible but it does take time and a serious commitment to the task at hand. There is help out there if you need it but you’ve got to be willing to take the first step towards your own debt freedom.
